Workshop with Ola Hassanain

As part of the 2023 Mobile Lab Egypt public programme, artist, architect, and mentor of the Prince Claus Building Beyond Mentorship, Ola Hassanain, will facilitate the workshop “How do we live in uninhabitable places?”. In it, she proposes an exercise to reposition the language of architectural practices through fiction. We are invited to construct narratives collectively based on experiences of lived and built environments as a way to rebuild a lexicon despite the ecological catastrophe of our cities. 

The workshop digs into a sense of lacking agency over the built environment that surrounds and (to a certain extent) shapes us, proposing to look at the moments in which one was confronted with a sense of conflict and responsibility that highlighted a deficiency in the practice. 

This event is part of the Lab's public programme and takes place on 18 September, 12:00-13:30 (GMT+3) at Tahrir Cultural Center at the American University in Cairo. Limited spots available.
