Omar Berrada Morocco

Omar Berrada is a Moroccan writer, translator, and curator who has significantly contributed to Morocco's arts and culture scene.  He is the author of several books and translations, including "Abdellatif Laâbi: Poète en liberté" and "Maroc Noir," which he translated into English. He has also curated exhibitions and events worldwide, including the "Ecstatic Alphabets/Heaps of Language" exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City and the 2016 Marrakech Biennale edition, where he co-curated the exhibition ''Memory Games: Ahmed Bouanani Now''. 

Berrada is perhaps best known as the director of Dar al-Ma'mûn, a residency program for artists and writers in Marrakech, Morocco. The program was founded in 2010 and provides a space for artists and writers worldwide to work and collaborate in a supportive environment. Berrada has been instrumental in shaping the programme's vision and direction and has helped establish it as a leading centre for artistic and cultural exchange in Morocco. Through this, Berrada continues to be an active voice in cultural and artistic circles in Morocco and beyond.
