HRH Prince Constantijn, Minister Sigrid Kaag and 2020 Prince Claus Laureates in online Awards ceremony on 2 December

24 November 2020 - Amsterdam. On 2 December, the seven 2020 Prince Claus Laureates will be announced in a video presentation accessible to viewers around the globe via the Prince Claus Fund’s website. His Royal Highness Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands, Honorary Chair of the Prince Claus Fund, and Sigrid Kaag, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation will both take part in the online ceremony.

Minister Kaag also spoke during the 2019 Prince Claus Awards ceremony at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam:

“Creating art can also be an act of bravery. Of hope. …Of daring to see a future that others cannot or will not. Art is also about defying skepticism. About ignoring those who say ‘it’s always been this way. We can’t do anything to change that.’ Because we can.” - Sigrid Kaag, 2019 Prince Claus Awards ceremony

The Prince Claus Awards honour individuals and organisations for their excellent, ground-breaking work in culture and development. The Awards are normally presented in the Royal Palace, Amsterdam, in the presence of 400 invited guests. In this unusual year, the Awards Ceremony will be a little different, and a worldwide audience can watch the presentation of the 2020 Prince Claus Awards and the transformative power of culture the Laureates represent in Argentina, Colombia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Pakistan, Tonga and Turkey.
