Sahat Zia Hero is a documentary photographer, writer, and human rights activist from Myanmar, currently based in Bangladesh. In 2017, Sahat had to flee from his birth country of Myanmar to Bangladesh due to systemic discrimination against the Rohingya people. He currently resides in refugee camps where he works as a freelance photographer. Sahat is the founder of Rohingyatographer Magazine and his first photobook is a documentation of the devastating fires that left 50,000 Rohingya homeless in 2021. His photographs have been published in various international media outlets, such as The Guardian, NBC, and Al Jazeera, and have been exhibited at several festivals, such as the Oxford Human Rights Festival, the Liberation War Museum in Dhaka, and the Head On Photo Festival in Sydney. Sahat’s written work has been published in Forced Migration Review, Lacuna Magazine, and Migrant Voice.
