Joanne Cesario Seed Awards recipient

Joanne Cesario works across film, small press and photography. She is currently based in Quezon City, Philippines. Her short film ‘Here, Here’ was selected for competition in the 2020 Lucarno Film Festival. Part fiction, part experiment, the film deals with the relationship between people, and people and nature. It focuses on the effects that mining operations have on the environment, community and families. For Cesario, concern about the environment is a personal issue, having grown up in a town in Batangas province that also felt the effects of mining.
