Hubert Matiuwaa is a Mexican artist and poet with a BA in Philosophy and Literature (UAGro) and a Master's degree in Latin American Studies (UNAM). He has received multiple awards, including the First Prize in Native Languages Cenzontle (2016), the V Prize for Indigenous Literature of America (2017), and the State of Guerrero's Prize for Young Poetry. He writes in the Me'phaa language and is the author of Xtambaa/Piel de Tierra (Earth Skin) (2016), Tsina ri nayaxa'/ Cicatriz que te mira (A Scar that Stares Back) (2017), Las Sombrereras de Tsitsidin (The Lady Hatters of Tsitsidin) (2018), Tungaa Indii/Comisario Jaguar/Jaguar Commissioner (2021), Ru'wa ginii/ First Rain (2021). Hubert is the founder of Gusanos de la Memoria (Worms of Memory), a cultural collective that works through literary creation workshops.
