Hubert Matiwa is a Mexican artist and poet with a BA in Philosophy and Literature (UAGro) and a Master degree in Latin American Studies (UNAM). He has received multiple awards, including the First Prize in Native Languages Cenzontle (2016), the V Prize for Indigenous Literature of America (2017), and the State of Guerrero Prize for Young Poetry. He writes in the M'ph language and is the author of Xtmbaa/Piel de Tierra (Earth Skin) (2016), Tsna r nyax'/ Cicatriz que te mira (A Scar that Stares Back) (2017), Las Sombrereras de Tstsdin (The Lady Hatters of Tstsdin) (2018), Tngaa Ind/Comisario Jaguar/Jaguar Commissioner (2021), Rua ginii/ First Rain (2021). Hubert is the founder of Gusanos de la Memoria (Worms of Memory), a cultural collective that works through literary creation workshops.
