Randa Shaath
Randa Shaath is a photographer and 2018 ADPP Mentor, known for her lucid black-and-white photographs that document the daily life of Cairo residents and the rapid transformations in the city. Randa received her BA in Middle Eastern Studies from the American University in Cairo, and her MA from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Minnesota. She is a trainer of award-winning photographers of the Arab Documentary Photography Programme and she has also worked as a photo editor at Al Shorouk daily newspaper and served as photographer for Al-Ahram Weekly.
Her work has been exhibited in Egypt and abroad, at Photoforum in Switzerland, Witte de With Art Center in The Netherlands, and Fondation Tapies in Spain, among other places. Randa has published three monographs: "Watani ala Marma Haggar" (1988), "Misr Umm el Dunia" (1990), and "Under the Same Sky; Cairo" (2003). She currently teaches photography at the American University in Cairo.
