Queerantine: A Digital Exhibition About Being Queer in Africa

A digital exhibition that focuses on how the pandemic is affecting African artists on the margins of society - a virtual reality art space that uses an array of mixed medias. 

In Queerantine I - we'll feature:

  • Film "The Closet Chapters 1 & 2" by Mbali Jozi (South Africa), Gisele Ingabire (Rwanda), Gugulethu Khumalo (South Africa)
  • Film "Boyhood" by Ericke (Namibia)
  • Film "A New Memory" by Nwaobiala (Nigeria)
  • Film "Resilience" by LLewellyn Mnguni (South Africa)

The movie was available to watch during the Festival on 8-9 December only.

Queerantine

The movement began as an effort to create community among LGBTQI in a time of social isolation. With support from the Prince Claus Fund and British Council, Kyle Malanda & Kwasi Darko curated the digital exhibition of Africans in Queeraantine.
