We're Supported by The National Postcode Lottery

The National Postcode Lottery will support the Prince Claus Fund for a period of five more years as of January 2021!

The support of the National Postcode Lottery for the past 21 years has been essential for our work in the field of culture and development and we are excited to have it continuing today.

For us, it is a statement of trust and assurance that the Prince Claus Fund can continue making a significant contribution in supporting cultural expression under pressure by supporting creative individuals, artists and human rights defenders who have a positive impact on their communities around the world.

In 2019, the National Postcode Lottery announced it would support the Fund's project Amplifying Creative Voices for an additional €1,305 million. We have also received additional funding in past years for the Cultural Defiance Fund (supporting artists in conflict situations), the Sahel Opera (an opera production of music from the Sahel region), and our Cultural Emergency Response programme.

With the support from the Lottery, the Cultural Emergency Response programme has now grown into a major player in the field of Heritage Protection and in 2022 is becoming an independent entity.

About the National Postcode Lottery

The National Postcode Lottery was established in 1989 to support charitable causes. Today, 3 million people in the Netherlands play every year, vying for hundreds of thousands of prizes each month. At the same time, they are supporting around 100 charitable organisations with a minimum of 40% of the price of their lottery ticket.

Since 2005 the National Postcode Lottery formula has worked internationally and is now active in the United Kingdom, Sweden, Germany, and Norway, where the People’s Postcode Lottery, the Svenska PostkodLotteriet, the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie, and the Norsk Postkodelotteri raise money for charitable causes.

In the Netherlands, the National Postcode Lottery works together with the BankGiro Loterij and the VriendenLoterij under the umbrella of the Goede Doelen Loterijen. Novamedia / Goede Doelen Loterijen is the third-largest private donor to charitable causes in the world.
