Nona Markarian Seed Awards recipient

Nona Markarian is an emerging cultural practitioner from Batumi, Georgia, with a Master’s degree in Innovation and Organization of Culture and the Arts from the University of Bologna, Italy (2020). Her multidisciplinary practice is focused on researching alternative space for artistic production in urban environment as well as across online networks. Since 2018 she has initiated several projects, including Misamarti festival and Liquid Structures, which represent artistic urban interventions aimed at bringing contemporary art into public spaces, facilitating dialogue about city ownership and organisation. Nona is currently member of a feminist collective Minadora, which researches decentralized social networks and tries to build emancipatory tools/platforms in Georgia.
