Joni Gordon Seed Awards recipient

Joni Gordon is a photographer and visual artist from Jamaica. She holds a BFA in Photography from Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts, Kingston, Jamaica. In the past Gordon has exhibited her work at group exhibitions such as ‘Echoes Afire School of Visual Arts: Faculty Exhibition’ (2021) and has also pursued a residency titled ‘La Práctica’ at New Local Space in 2020-21. Her art deals with the unseen consequences of racial discrimination and degradation through material manifestations by using her body in photography, against sculptural backdrops. She hopes to incorporate printmaking into her artistic practice in the future.
