Aria XYX Seed Awards recipient

ARIA XYX is a ceramist and visual artist from El Salvador. Their work addresses the construction of masculinity, gender roles, forced displacement, hate crimes, and affective sex relationships as well as affective lacks in non-binary identities in their country through the medium of ceramics, embroidery, and engraving. Aria series of "The Weight of Your Words" investigates the normalized words of hate and discrimination in Salvadorian society. Their work "Don't Leave Me Please (Voodoo Dolls)" focuses on the queer/transvestite body as a territory of passage, an object of fetishist consumption, and the lack of commitment to non-binary identities.
