Sonja is a graduate student and Rotary Peace Fellow at the School of Social and International Studies at the University of Bradford, UK where she is investigating the role of the arts and culture in peacebuilding and development. She has degrees in journalism and international relations from the University of Queensland, Australia. She has worked as an arts volunteer and consultant on projects in Australia, the United Kingdom, USA and Spain. Most recently, Sonja worked with UK charity Most Mira, coordinating media workshops for a youth arts festival focused on reconciliation in northern Bosnia. From 2008-2010 Sonja was director of Propel – a peak youth arts NGO in Perth, Western Australia and key advocate for the development of a youth arts centre for the city. She has been a board member of: Young People and the Arts Australia and the Western Australia Arts Federation (now launched as Chamber of the Arts and Culture WA).
