2.4.2013 2012 Prince Claus Award presented to Maung Thura (Zarganar)
On 27 March HE Ambassador Joan Boer presented the 2012 Prince Claus Award to Zarganar during a historic Anyeint performance by Zarganar in the People's Square in Yangon. The exciting theatrical performance lasted 5 and a half jours and was attended by an estimated 5000 people. It was the biggest public performance ever to take place in Burma.
2.4.2013 Oday Al Khatib arrested
Internationally renowed Palestinian singer Oday Al Khatib (1991), member of 2006 Prince Claus Laureate Al Kamandjati, the acclaimed Ramallah-based music school founded in 2005 by Ramzi Aburedwan, was arrested by Israeli military forces according to Sandy Tolan. He is accused of throwing stones, a charge that could send him to prison for up to ten years.
