The Kibii Foundation is a non-governmental organization based in Suriname, with a focus on arts and culture development and promotion. It is the only existing cultural and arts centre in the Marowijne region of the country. Kibii gives special attention to the youth in the Marowijne district, home to several tribal Okanisi Maroon communities.
Kibii strongly believes that community-based cultural activities can be transformative in post-conflict development, specifically for marginalised communities. Since establishment in 2009, the Kibii Foundation has been addressing these local challenges by investing in platforms for local cultural production while building a cultural meeting place in Moengo, the district's city centre. They have addressed issues related to heritage protection and preservation, creating cultural diversity and enabling artistic offer as part of the wider Caribbean region.
