On 3 May 2012, Extra City Kunsthal opens at the same time the retrospective Chasing Shadows – Thirty Years of Photographic Essays of 2009 Prince Claus laureate and photographer Santu Mofokeng and the installation Podworka by the American artist Sharon Lockhart.
Mofokeng became widely known for his photographic essays that focus on the underlying topics behind the daily newspaper covers. The exhibition, accompanied by an extensive monograph, brings together a unique selection of the photographic essays that Mofokeng developed over the last thirty years. Podwórka, Sharon Lockhart’s subtle social portrait, fits closely to Mofokeng’s work.
