6.5.2013 Restoring and Reconstructing Traditional Furnaces in Kaya
The traditional furnaces of Kaya, Burkina Faso represent the most diverse manifestations of metallurgical engineering, but 11 of the 13 were destroyed by torrential rains in 2012. The Prince Claus Fund supports the restoration and reconstruction of the collapsed furnaces as part of a broader project aimed at securing the site in the long term.
6.5.2013 Restoring the Historical Building of the Fundación Escuela...
Heavy rains hit western Colombia in the fall of 2011, producing mudslides that caused the deaths of 40 people and devastating infrustractural damage. CER supports the restoration of the historical building that is home to the Fundación Escuela Taller de Caldas (“Foundation School Workshop”), which has been severely affected by the rains.
1.5.2013 Ticket Grant
The Prince Claus Ticket Grant supports cross-cultural exchange between artists and cultural practitioners in Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. The Ticket Grant specifically covers the cost of tickets for travel (e.g. plane or train tickets).
18.4.2013 'Sweet Dreams' Screenings at My Friend, My Enemy, My Society
The documentary 'Sweet Dreams' will be shown on 25 and 27 April as part of My Friend, My Enemy, My Society, a programme organised by Castrum Peregrini. 'Sweet Dreams' follows Rwanda's first and only all-women drumming group, Ingoma Nshya, as it embarks on a new project: founding Rwanda's first ice cream shop. Ingoma Nshya founder Odile 'Kiki' Gakire Katese will be present for a Q&A.
28.3.2013 Opening and book launch 'Out of the Ruins'
Exhibition opening and book launch of 'Out of the Ruins: Bam Photography Rescue Project' on 10 April 2013 in the Prince Claus Fund Gallery. Director Christa Meindersma will conduct a Q&A with Herman Divendal, former director AIDA Nederland. The exhibition and the book pay homage to the destroyed city of Bam and it’s photographers.
