Performance lecture By Prince Claus Laureate Rabih Mroué at EYE

Check out the world of contemporary art in EYE Filmmuseum during Amsterdam Art Weekend, with a special performance lecture by Lebanese artist and 2011 Prince Claus Laureate Rabih Mroué, work by Rafaël Rozendaal in the Arena, and three programmes with artist films for this year’s International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam (IDFA). The programme is a collaboration between Amsterdam Art Weekend, IDFA, EYE and the Prince Claus Fund.

EYE Filmmuseum joins in with three special film programmes for IDFA, featuring work by such contemporary artists as Sebastián Díaz Morales, Yael Bartana and Jeroen Jongeleen.
Make sure not to miss the performance lecture by Lebanese artist Rabih Mroué (1967), an actor, director, dramatist and visual artist who has broken ground internationally. Much of his work focuses on the complex history of his native country. Mroué presents Sand in Eyes (24 November, 21.00) especially for EYE. In his performance-lecture Mroué explores the image politics of Islamist recruiting videos based on research material comprised of recruiting videos secured by the officers of the German Intelligence Services. The critically acclaimed exhibition Locus – Apichatpong Weerasethakul – Cao Guimarães is open until midnight for free. Apichatpong Weerasethakul received the Principal Prince Claus Award in 2016, read more about him here.
Finally, immerse yourself in a wonderful installation by the renowned net artist Rafaël Rozendaal during the ‘An Evening at EYE’ event (24 November, 21.00-24.00). The Dutch-Brazilian artist has risen to international fame in recent years with artworks in the form of intriguing websites, drawing a following of more than 60 million unique visitors a year.
